Services Website and Quote System

As part of the Agriculture and Food Laboratory overall rebranding, a new modern looking website was required. Unlike the majority of our projects, this site is built using the Drupal content management system with a custom built theme.

Custom design features included building unique per-page headers with the new branded “hive” style cell features and the new colour palette and fresh new brand. This look carries through the website to inline content images and the overall homepage services index. An overarching University of Guelph co-branding was also applied to each page.

Functionality-wise, the site uses a series of scripts to handle quote requests for both a variety of food and agricultural laboratory services. An additional add-on after the initial launch also took on a complicated quoting and information tool for official cannabis testing that also bore an unique and fun branding project. Accessibility requirements were also key as the organization meets the legal requirement between being located within a post-secondary establishment and having more than fifty employees.

Complete information and form handling around submitting samples to the laboratory were also required along with the repurposing of the blog system as a news release engine. An in-depth site search tool was also baked in.

The AFL team is fully enabled to edit existing and post new content as needed. This includes the ability to upload and link various documents related to the various segments of their work for public consumption.
